Welcome to the home of the MPowrx™ iSleepSound™ Snoring Solution. We are committed to raising awareness for snoring, sleep apnea and other disruptive sleep disorders, as well as developing innovative, scientifically sound technologies to treat these conditions.
iSleepSound™ Is A Clinically Proven Medical Device
You have obviously found us because you were looking for information regarding snoring and/or sleep apnea. To be more specific, you were probably looking for a solution. The iSleepSound™ tongue retention device may just be the answer for you. It is a simple oral appliance that was created by dentist and sleep researcher Dr. Leslie Dort to meet the unmet need for a convenient, economical, and clinically proven treatment option for sleep disordered breathing conditions..
Dr. Dort conducted a clinical trial funded through the Alberta Research Foundation for Medical Research, in which patients showed statistically significant and clinically relevant improvements in three primary areas: Respiratory Disturbance Index (RDI), which is a measure of sleep apnea; The Snoring Index (SI), which is a measure of snoring incidence; and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), a measure of daytime sleepiness. This 32 patient clinical trial demonstrated that MPowrx™’s device significantly reduced snoring and respiratory disturbances in patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea. Patients showed an improvement in daytime sleepiness and expressed a high level of interest in continuing to use the product (compliance of >70%).
This study published in the medical journal Sleep and Breathing, in May 2008 demonstrated that the iSleepSound™ Snoring Solution is clinically proven to reduce snoring and respiratory disturbances, and improve daytime sleepiness. This is important for personal safety and performance, and has a high level of compliance among users.
This is the first randomized controlled study evaluating tongue retention devices and the possible role of suction in those devices. The patented suction bulb-flange design is unique among tongue retention devices. The suction bulb pulls the tongue forward, while the flange repositions the mandible and stabilizes the device in the mouth. Together, these actions enable enlargement of the pharynx and opening of the airway, reducing snoring and respiratory disturbances associated with sleep disordered breathing.
Why Use iSleepSound™?
Other treatment options shown below have significant limitations for treatment.
Surgery is usually considered the option of last resort, and for good reason, as it carries significant risks and has a high rate of failure or relapse.
CPAP or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure is the standard of care for OSA, as it is 100% effective when in use, however compliance is very low due to the intrusiveness of the apparatus. People often abandon CPAP and may turn to custom-fitted appliance such as mandibular displacement appliances, but many go untreated due poor alternative treatment options.
Mandibular displacement appliances, while clinically proven to reduce snoring, require custom fitting by a sleep specialist, adding further costs to an already high priced appliance, and are associated with serious side effects, including muscle/jaw pain and permanent shifts in jaw alignment/bite. Mandibular appliances are also not 100% effective -patients can pay $1500 – 3000 for a custom device, only to find out that it doesn’t work for them.
There are numerous over-the-counter anti-snoring products such as nasal sprays and nose strips which are less expensive and more convenient, however, there is little to no clinical data to support that these products work.
MPowrx™’s iSleepSound™ device requires no custom-fitting and is available in Canada over the counter without a prescription, and available in the U.S. by order of a licensed healthcare practitioner. iSleepSound™ is easily accessible and economical for patients.
Other Treatment Options Have Limitations.
The MPowrx™ iSleepSound™ Snoring Solution has been designed as “one size fits all” and requires no special fitting by sleep specialist, and therefore, we don’t have the added costs associated with other custom appliances, and so can offer it for a much reduced price to consumers ($150 verses compared to several hundred to thousand dollars for other treatment options).
In Canada, Health Canada has cleared the device as a Class I medical device for treatment of snoring and mild-moderate sleep apnea. In the United States, the FDA has cleared the iSleepSound™ device for treatment of snoring only.
The iSleepSound™ device fits comfortably between the lips and teeth and has an aperture with a bulb for holding the tongue. Once the bulb is squeezed to reduce the air volume, a vacuum is formed which keeps the tongue comfortably retained within the bulb. CPAP and mandibular devices work on the same principle of forcing the tongue to move forward and opening the air passage, improving nighttime breathing, snoring and respiratory disturbances.
MPowrx™’s iSleepSound™ device is protected by two United States patents (7,533,674 & D461,240) and Canadian patent Application No. 2,373,407.
Sleep Apnea is a sleep disorder in which breathing is interrupted during sleep. Like snoring, it is also a very common disorder, affecting millions of people in North America alone. Sleep apnea is a very serious disorder that can have significant health consequences if left untreated.

Adjusted Neck Circumference Score
The Adjusted Neck Circumference Score (ANC) is a quick way to determine the likelihood of having a form of Sleep Apnea. This questionnaire calculates the probability of the patient being diagnosed with sleep apnea by adjusting the patient’s neck circumference based on the patient’s history of hypertension, habitual snoring and witnessed apnea.
Interpretation of ANC Score:
If the patient score 48 or higher on the Adjusted Neck Circumference test we highly advise you to seek the help of a professional sleep clinic. Sleep apnea and other sleep disorders can seriously affect your health. Correct diagnosis and treatment under a physicians care are extremely important.
